Murder on the Back Roads

Librarian Willa McCourt has made peace with her predictable life, bringing books and conversation to the outlying communities near Washington’s coast. Until rookie State Patrol officer Steph Douglas crashes into her life, bringing with her a missing person case that pulls Willa off her quiet coastal route and into danger.

Steph Douglas’s plan is to prove herself, earn a better posting, and always move forward. But when a local man vanishes, a routine search quickly spirals into a potential homicide. With few leads and a community full of secrets, Steph reluctantly accepts Willa’s help, and her bookmobile becomes a base of operations.

As clues twist and turn and the case edges toward murder, Willa and Steph are drawn together by an undeniable attraction they don’t expect or know how to handle. On roads where everyone is hiding something, trusting each other could be the most dangerous risk of all.
