Foldcraft

He died with an unfinished paper crane in his hand. Now he’s been reborn in a world where folding paper is forbidden—and his greatest talent could make him a criminal.

In his previous life, Ritsu was an ordinary Japanese teenager who loved origami. In his new life, he is Rito Calvin, the son of humble papermakers in a kingdom where magic belongs to those who can draw perfect circles.

Here, paper must remain flat. Every magical spell depends on flawless lines, and folding a sheet is considered dangerous, unlawful, and potentially disastrous.

But Rito’s hands remember something this world has forgotten.

With a single fold, he can turn discarded scraps into living paper birds. With another, he can create extraordinary magic that no traditional spellcaster can explain.

There’s just one problem.

Rito cannot draw a proper magic circle.

Branded an outsider in a society that measures human worth through magical ability, he must hide the very power that makes him extraordinary.

Then his little sister, Nina, develops a mysterious illness marked by spreading gray lines beneath her skin.

The village healers are powerless. The answers may exist only in the royal capital, where the Grand Circle Court controls magical knowledge and ruthlessly protects its authority.

To save Nina, Rito must leave the safety of his family and enter a world of powerful nobles, dangerous magical creatures, forbidden research, and a prestigious magic academy where someone like him has no place.

With an eccentric former sigilwright as his mentor and an unconventional power that challenges everything the kingdom believes, Rito begins a journey that will test his courage, loyalty, and determination.

But the deeper he ventures into the secrets of magic, the more troubling the kingdom’s perfect order becomes.

Why does everyone fear a simple fold?
