Father

A devastating accident should have ended twelve-year-old Toby Allen Maguire’s life.

Instead, it changes everything.

After a violent automobile collision and sixty days in a coma, Toby awakens in the hospital to discover that something about his mind is profoundly different. His senses have sharpened. Numbers, measurements, sounds, and details reveal themselves with startling precision. Information that should require years of study can be absorbed at extraordinary speed.

Then Toby begins seeing what others cannot.

As doctors struggle to explain his survival and increasingly remarkable abilities, Toby turns toward knowledge, determined to discover what his transformed mind can do—and what his survival might mean.

But this is only the beginning.

Toby tells his story from centuries in the future, when he is known simply as Father: a man with fourteen wives, millions of children, and a past intertwined with the fate of three races of beings. What begins with a broken twelve-year-old boy in a hospital will eventually reach far beyond the world he knows.

FATHER: BOOK ONE by Charles Beck is a speculative science-fiction journey of awakening, discovery, extraordinary human potential, and a destiny whose true dimensions are only beginning to emerge.
