Two years after the residential real estate market collapse, young workers and jobseekers struggle everywhere. A part-time employee of a DNA analysis firm, takes out some frustration by identifying Chicago client Keret Heshbon as Amorite. Consequences mount for Keret and his partner Jane Desmarais. On SecondLife, a stalker emerges. An Israeli minister’s decision to join a Palestinian classmate at a reunion with MBA classmates sets Chicago groups planning for an international conference titled « Embrace of Mideast Peace. » Keret’s stalke, entangles Keret and Jane in centuries of Levant turmoil. At the same time, Keret’s work for an accounting firm brings him to insights about the suffering in a client’s portfolio of foreclosed St. Louis homes. Similarly, Jane’s work for an investigative reporter reveals widespread corruption and suffering. Worldwide and in Chicago, arbitrary lines divide rich and poor, safe and insecure. When Jane posts a reflection published as a Chicago Tribune opinion piece, her beauty and her anger spark formation of Amorights groups at campuses across the United States. Keret has to make a decision: what is he?
