A complete guide to the Great Perfection from the retreat community of Drupwang Shakya Shri.
Shakya Shri (1853–1919), « the Lord of Siddhas », was one of the great yogins of modern Tibet, a master of both Mahāmudrā and the Great Perfection. The Wish-Fulfilling Jewel was written at his seat by his son and heir Phakchok Dorje, as a guide for the practitioners who had gathered there.
In eight sections it covers the whole path of the Great Perfection: the lineage and the qualified teacher and student, the ground of all, the view, Trekchö, Tögal, the conduct of a practitioner, and the fruition of buddhahood. Its aim, the author says, is « not merely a dry understanding of the words and concepts, but a direct introduction through experience, easy to apply in practice. »
Translated from the Tibetan, with an introduction, notes, glossary, bibliography and index, by Rob Newton M.D.
